The Backhousia citriodora is a part of the Myrtaceae family and is a native of Australia. This flowering plant that can reach 20 feet in height, but is often smaller. The leaves are evergreen broad and glossy with creamy white flowers clustered at the end of branches.

Lemon Myrtle grows naturally in Austraila, and has been used for centuries as a natural remedy. It was first discovered in 1853 and was named after James Backhouse, an English botanist.
