Alice (Haddox) Harold, 83, of Newport, Virginia, passed away on the morning of September 22, 2024. She was at home, surrounded by her family, in her final days. She is now in the arms of her Savior.
Alice was born November 5, 1940, near Big Springs, WV to John and Lorraine Haddox. She grew up in Big Springs and lived near Spencer and Rainelle, WV and in Chattanooga, TN, before moving to Virginia to live with her son Doug shortly before her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Karen (Roy) Nichols and Janice (Wayne) Farren.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Ross Harold, her sons Gregory Harold, Douglas (Lindsay) Harold, Edward Harold, Johnathan (Bobi) Harold, her daughter Crystal Aruca, and 10 grandchildren (Kristiana, Joshua, Johnathan, Savannah, Reagan, Katelyn, Bailey, Kendra, Riley, and Kelsey). Her other surviving relatives include her brother, Victor (Martha) Haddox, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relations.
Alice was a sweet and gentle woman, loved by all who knew her. She was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ and her family most of all. While she held a few jobs outside the home at various times, including as an assistant schoolteacher, her primary calling throughout her life was as a homemaker and mother to her 5 children. She prioritized a Christian education and a godly home for her children. Her favorite scripture passage was Romans 12:1-2:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
The funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jaden Cook of Gateway Baptist Church in Blacksburg, VA, officiating.
