On Sunday August 18th Braxton County travelled to Mt Zion and were swept by the Little Red Devils. The day started off with the Flag Football team (ages 3-5) scoring 11 times and holding the Redskins out of the end zone. Bryer Swisher and Miles Davis each had two rushing scores for the Little Red Devils. Jaxon Snodgress, Henry Poore, Hal’Lee Hughes, Elijah Yeager, Barrett Probasco, Milton McGuire and Ryder Bartelt each added 1 score on the ground.
Next up was the C Team (kindergarten- 2nd grade) and they handled their business defeating the Redskins 26-0. Braxton Carter led the offensive attack for the Little Red Devils rushing for 290 yards while scoring all 4 touchdowns. Carter also added 2 extra points. Defensively Asher Starcher led the team with 7 tackles.
Calhoun’s B team (grades 3 – 4) was victorious for the second week in a row with a 13-6 score. Offensively Colten Heiney was the leading rusher with 41 yards. Quinten Parkin had the lone offensive touchdown and Haygan Houchin added an extra point run. Defensively Carper Summers led the charge with 8 tackles and 2 sacks. Michael McClain added points on the board with a 55 yard strip fumble returned for a touchdown.
The final game of the day was another victory for the Little Red Devils as the A Team (5th- 6th grade) beat the visiting Redskins 21-13. Tyler Mayle led the Rushing game with 95 yards on the ground with an extra point, while Bentley Snodgress punched the ball into the end zone 2 times with rushing scores and also added 2 extra points runs. Liam Yeager had 85 passing yards including a 28 yard toss to Receiver Abram Dow. Defensively the Little Red Devils were led by Chandler Cottrell who had 10 tackles and Grayson Laughlin who had 9 tackles and a sack.
The Little Red Devils will be back in action next Sunday August 25th when they host the Gilmer County Pioneers. Flag will start at noon, C Team will start at 1 pm with B and A teams to follow. Come out and cheer on the Little Red Devils against our neighbor and rival from Gilmer county.
