Connie Kay McCartney Obituary

Connie Kay McCartney passed away February 29 in Daytona, Florida, after an extended illness. She was born December 13, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Mabel Marks and Walter Marks.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Richard H McCartney. Mother Mabel Marks, father Walter Marks, brother David “Buck” Marks, father in law and mother in law Rood and Hester McCartney, brother in law and sister in law Robert and Linda McCartney.

She is survived by husband of two years Ronald Cooper of Deltona Florida, son Scott McCartney (Carla) of Parkersburg, granddaughters Danielle Godby (Nathan) of Fairplain and Cheyenne Lee (Jacob) and one great grandson Elliott Lee all of Oceanside California. Brother Bill Marks( the late Shelby) her twin brother John Marks (Connie) Erma Sinns (the late Michael) Barbara Bush (the late James) Mae Lemon Sturms (Robert Sturm and the late Willard Lemon) and sister in law Debbie Marks. Unofficial bonus sons Steve Reynolds and Chris Parr and nieces, nephews and she claimed as her own.

Connie worked for many years at Calhoun General/ Minnie Hamilton Health Systems and J&B Drugstore. She loved volunteering at the Wood and Molasses Festivals. She enjoyed working the elections and getting to visit with friends and family.

Connie was a long-time member of Victory Baptist Church.
She donated her body to science at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.

A Memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 2037 South Calhoun Highway, Grantsville WV on March 9th with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. With service following at 1:00 p.m. Steven Carter and Roger Carter will be officiating. Connie will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery at a later time.
