The snow all went away, spring officially started and now Julia Joyce’s daffodils are at their peak and Jerry Poling’s fruit trees will soon be in full bloom. Also, ramps should be up before very long.
Anna Exline who lived on Grieves Run passed away. She was a daughter of T. Russell & Della Boggs.
Delorce Gibson, age 92, of Elizabeth passed away. She was the widow of Creston native Lyle Gibson. She is survived by their son Joe. For several years she was the smiling face in the Wirt County sheriff’s tax office.
Evelyn Lynch, age 98, of Parkersburg passed away. She was the mother of Iris “Sue” Meadows of Creston. The comely Kim was visiting her mother Wilma Mowrey and were among those at the visitation.
Naomi Taylor, age 85, of Spencer passed away. She was the daughter of Robert & Elsie Walker. Burial was at Hodam.
Randy Broida who had Jay Bee, a New Jersey outfit that had wells in nearby counties & was an active Marcellus driller had a massive heart attack while in the Rockies. It was understood that the family intends to keep the business going.
Enlink which operates the old Eureka oil gathering facility at Brooksville announced that they are looking for accountants, auditors & sales reps. It was noted that such folks are hard to find because with a common core math background along with CRT & equity training would make getting a CPA be very hard. The firm may have to look to foreign lands.
There was a party Saturday for Brandon Ferrell who recently returned after a tour of duty in the U. S. military. The current military leaders are overweight fellows who are concerned about proper pronouns and uniforms for pregnant warriors. One calls his counterpart in the communist Chinese Peoples’ Liberation Army to advise him what our soldiers are doing.
Riley Keaton and a comely lass were in Creston campaigning. He was told flat out that those who voted for the forced pooling bill that the out of state corporations wanted so as to rape & raid the state [like the coal barons did] need to be voted out of office. He also was promoting what will be Amendment 1 on the November ballot that would undo the 1932 Taxation Limitation Amendment that protects homes & farms from punitive taxation. The story is [to sell the plan] that personal cars will no longer be taxed. Of course, the counties will have to make up the lost revenue by increasing taxes on the citizens. The real intent of the proposal is to make tax exempt the $billions in value of the present fractionation plants, pipelines, compressor stations and likely other utility facilities, rail road cars, locomotives, barges, etc. One Wood County plant would get, right off, a $4 million county tax break.
A nasty intestinal bug is making its way around Creston.

Mary Newton was visiting at the Creston Space Dock and with Mr. & Mrs. Cooter Marks of Millstone. She did an impressive job of singing & piano playing at the Full Gospel Lighthouse.
While routine road work goes undone in both Calhoun & Wirt counties the crews are using expensive equipment to trim tree tops and make the remaining stubs look awful. The machine used in Calhoun County costs taxpayers $9,000/month and, likely the bucket truck used in Wirt is more. The crew understood that someone down in Building 5 [at the Mouth of the Elk] was doing well from the out of state outfits that rent the equipment. Considering the number of tire “busting” and rim bending potholes on I-77 one would think that an outfit with any leadership would have workers come from other counties to properly fix “the imperfections in the surface of the roadway”. One would think that the state road biggies would be embarrassed by the present condition of sections of the interstate. Apparently, personal aggrandizement has a higher priority. To justify this nonsense, the DOH put out a press release bragging about the “work” that has been done and saying that is “core maintenance” to make sure that the road dries after a rain. Decades ago, that was the story so that the sun would dry up the mud holes. Those who have been stuck in the worst mudholes know the joy of the beating sun bearing down whilst working to extricate the vehicle stuck on a state road with no shade. Some thought that the reason for cutting all the tree tops [while leaving dead trees to fall] was to allow vehicles with sails to traverse the roadway to solve “global warming”.
Sen. Shelly Capito sent out a press release about her meeting the junta’s pick for the new supreme court judge. Mrs. Jackson has worked to protect child sex predators and worked to help the terrorists kept at Guantanamo Bay. Obviously our senator needed to meet with the woman but certainly she will not vote yes.
The Ukraine war is of obvious concern to local residents. One of our “leaders” said that Putin was in control and such is the case. It is obvious that needed equipment for Ukraine was deliberately held up [for a reason] and now we are to be mad at Vlad. But while the administration “waxes eloquent” and not so much with the Cackler the same folks are having Russia and China talk for America in the deal with Iran likely at the behest of the Big Eared One who likes the Shia. China is backing Russia in the war and Iran still calls for death to Israel & America. The Sunni Arabs are now forced to look to China for protection. Some have been reviewing their Bible prophecy.
We are told that Putin is responsible for high gas prices & inflation but when one stops pipelines, promulgates new edicts that refiners cannot do, halts drilling & tells the big oil boys to curtail production even the slow among us can follow the real story. Real wars kill people and destroy homes, hospitals, bridges, etc. The global warming hoaxers can scream all they want when they stop using oil, gas and products made from petroleum like cell phones, etc. To be safe America needs to be energy independent & not beholden to dictator Xi’s factories. The EIA [Energy Information Agency] noted that fossil fuels will have to be 4 times the amount of “renewables” at least until 2050 & maybe by then one of the “squad” members will discover a way to make plastics from Pixie dust. The folks in Pennsylvania are talking about starting a rare earths mining program there. W. Va.’s bought & paid for legislature, if they weren’t so gung ho in giving our oil & gas to foreign nations and out state firms, promoting gambling and dope sales. could work to promote rare earth mining in West Virginia. They could walk & rub snuff [or chew gum] at the same time & promote end uses for the oil & gas produced in West Virginia. Dream on.
The world ruling elites, that is those folks who had a shut down to protect us from the virus is now proposing price controls & a shut down including travel restrictions, lowering the speed limits, keeping private cars out of certain areas, no drive Sundays, etc. Presently some folks, especially the truckers are banned from Washington, Dee Cee. Little ‘Mayor Pete” held a meeting to improve the “supply chain” and the rail roads & the trucking industry were both excluded.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $103.70/bbl. with condensate, formerly called Appalachian light sweet, fetched $89.70/bbl. with Marcellus & Utica light bringing $94.70 & medium $103.70/bbl. Henry Hub natural gas was $4.47/mmbtu while gas sold on the Dominion system brought $3.708 & on Columbia (TCO)/TransCanada $3.825/mmbtu.
