Early Morning Accident on Philips Run

Nick and Amanda Randolph of Philips Run was in the midst of their morning workout routine when they heard a car approaching, and then lose control just across the creek from their home. Amanda was certain it would be far worse from the sounds and the appearance of the car, but Chris Buchanan (of Mt. Zion) was out of the car on his own before the the Randolph’s could make their way to Highway 16. Buchanan wasn’t even sure himself how he managed to get out of badly damaged Honda Civic.

Minnie Hamilton Ambulance Service, Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, Sheriff Graham Knight and Westfall’s Wrecker service were all on scene shortly after the accident. Although Buchanan’s arm was splinted he refused transport to the hospital, choosing rather to go home.

When asked what happened, Buchanan said that he wasn’t really sure. He assumed he had hit a patch of ice and lost control. Black marks on the road way appear several feet before he went over an embankment, just shy of the guardrail across from Calhoun Auto Care.

No citations were written. The car was removed and towed by Westfall’s Wrecker service.

  1. Did that happen during regular working hours? I wonder if the Mr Zion PSD pays for that employee to run his business during working hours?
