GOVERNOR PATRICK MORRISEY PROCLAIMS SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK IN WEST VIRGINIA

January 27, 2025

CHARLESTON, WV – Governor Patrick Morrisey signed a proclamation today declaring the week of January 26, 2025 as “School Choice Week” in West Virginia. The proclamation accompanies the US Department of Education’s recognition of National School Choice Week.

Today’s proclamation follows Governor Morrisey’s promise to partner with the Trump administration and find ways to put West Virginia students and families first.

Governor Morrisey campaigned on the issue of school choice – ensuring all students in West Virginia have the opportunity to access high-quality schools and parents are empowered to make educational decisions for their children. West Virginians recognize that improving education quality and accountability are key issues to raising the quality of life and bettering our state. During his inaugural address, Morrisey said: “Our education initiatives will empower parents, support teachers, and ensure that every child has access to the tools they need to succeed.”
