Grantsville and Mt. Zion Water Companies Struggling with Frozen lines and Screens

The cold temperatures have caused not only homeowners issues over the weekend, but the Town of Grantsville and PSD’s have struggled to maintain their water system’s operation.

Mt. Zion is currently suffering low pressure due to Grantsville (their water provider) having to shut down Mt. Zions ability to pump. Both systems are suffering from freezing issues with Grantsville intake screens freezing off in the river, preventing them from bringing water in for treatment.

Mt. Zion PSD also has a meter issue somewhere between Millstone and the Upper West Fork that is currently draining their system adding to problem.

David Johnson, Chief Water Plant Operator for Grantsville has received multiple reports of low water pressure and has worked throughout the night, walking back and forth between the river pumps and the plant to keep the system flowing when possible, having to shut down several times because of the frozen screens.

Patience is necessary until the problem is solved. (At least that’s what David Johnson keeps telling his wife, who’s been out of water since Friday, suffering from broken lines in their own home.)
