On Sunday August 13th the Doddridge Dawgs travelled to Calhoun to take on the Little Red Devils. Calhoun was able to come away with 3 victories out of the 4 games. (Full Stats will be listed below). The day started out with Calhoun’s Flag team winning 4 scores to 2. Gunner Burrows and Elijah Yeager each had 2 scores. Calhoun’s C Team was able to Talley in the 2nd half but ended up a little short on the scoreboard as Doddridge took away a 29-12 win. Ronan Haney had 112 yards rushing and 2 Touchdowns to lead the Little Devils offense. Carper Summers was the leading tackler with 7.
The B team was then able to get into the winning column as they pulled out a 49-0 win against the Dawgs. Josh Hardbarger had 141 rushing yards and 3 Touchdowns while Brantley Schoolcraft added 2 rushing Touchdowns. Jase Farley, Colten Heiney and Judd Helmick also each added a rushing Touchdown. Defensively Hardbarger was the leading tackler with 9 and Schoolcraft had 2 Fumble recoveries.
The A team finished up the day with a nail biter. Early in the game the Devils were driving the ball and Doddridge stripped it out and returned the fumble for a touchdown to take an early lead. The game was back and forth the rest of the game. With about 4 minutes to go in the game Calhoun was able to break a long run to take the lead. When the Dawgs got the ball back the Little Devil Defense made and stand and on a 4th and 1 play were able to stuff the ball carrier and keep them behind the chains and getting the ball back. The offense was then able to run out the clock to get the 19-13 victory. Tyler Mayle, Grayson Laughlin and Braydon Hardway each had a Touchdown for the Devils. While Braydon Hardway lead the defense with 10 tackles and Grayson Laughlin and a chandler Cottrell were able to add 8 tackles a piece.
Next weekend the Flag, C and B Teams will travel to Braxton County on Saturday August 19th with the flag game starting 11 am. Braxton does not have an A team so Calhoun will travel to South Charleston on Sunday for a scrimmage starting at 3pm.
