The Danger of Not Caring about What Happens In Local Government

This week in an article on Blaze News, S.T. Karnic wrote regarding the latest campaign strategy by Biden to “stop misinformation”, that it is actually the Biden administration’s efforts to intimidate media outlets into censoring information that might paint the president in a bad light.

Oh I get it… “What’s this got to do with local politics, this is the same ol’ national bickering that’s gone on for decades,” right? Probably, but let’s not throw our hands up and walk away just yet and think that it doesn’t affect us.

Information is necessary for making decisions. It’s why I want the Ridgeview to represent nothing but the truth. You may not always like or agree with what I print, but it’s truth none-the-less. And it’s published for the sole purpose of keeping you informed so you can make informed decisions about government, elections, schools, etc.

Contrary to what some would say, there is no joy in sharing bad news.

I always think about the scripture where David’s son Absalom, who was also David’s enemy, was killed after having run David out of his city and turned David’s own people against him. Absalom had raped his sister, went in to his father’s concubines in a public way after having taken his city, and was just the epitome of a creep.

And yet David said at the discovery of his death,

2 Samuel 18:33b
O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!

Even in spite of the evil, it wasn’t good news that his son was killed. But when David’s military leader Joab heard of David’s cries he went and called his boss to task:

2 Samuel 19:5-7 KJV
And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines; [6] In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well. [7] Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

So now I’m sure you’re asking “what this has to do with Washington D.C’s antics?”

Information is not what’s key, it’s good information that’s key. David did not know what was going on behind the scenes until he had lost his city.

When I request information from Democrat elected officials who refuse, or as slowly as possible provide the information, it sends up red flags for me. And it should concern the public as well. Why do they not want the information to make its way to the public? Why is it necessary for them to “show who has control” of the information? And what would happen if there was information that nobody wanted anybody to know? That’s a good way to lose your city, just ask King David.

I don’t like having to file a FOIA request every time I need information from the Calhoun County Clerk’s office. I didn’t like having to go around the Circuit Clerk to get a copy of the Court Docket because of uncooperative people. But it accomplishes what I need to get accomplished and so I do it. But you better believe when I go into the voter’s booth on Election Day, I’ll remember. When someone asks my opinion and why, I’ll tell them.

It’s not because I like to share bad news. I don’t. I’d rather say that I asked for information and received a quick response. As I did from the office of Prosecuting Attorney Michael Hicks. He’s not as cooperative as his predecessor, but who knows what time may bring? I’ll give credit where credit is due. But I want you to have the information needed of who’s on the side of the public.

More of Karnic’s article said:

The Department of Defense in May contracted with a firm owned by “a researcher who applauded Twitter for censoring stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop, to ‘proactively respond’ to international disinformation campaigns” by providing “a software tool that tracks global disinformation campaigns,” theWashington Free Beacon reported. The Pentagon also made “other controversial grants this year to organizations that support censorship of so-called disinformation,” the paper said.

The Department of Health and Human Services has created a “Surgeon General’s Community Toolkit for Addressing Health Misinformation,” which “provides specific guidance and resources for health care providers, educators, librarians, faith leaders, and trusted community members to understand, identify, and stop the spread of health misinformation in their communities.” Think of it as the first step toward a nationwide Soviet-style snitch culture for health care.

We are living in an era of time in the United States that is flooded with information. Be it national information, State information or County information, you need to know if it’s honest information or information meant to manipulate your reasoning.

The current Democrat party is not the party of your grandparents. That is truth. Your Grandparents were likely, pro-God, pro-life, and pro-gun people. The Democratic Party is not even one of those.

Is the National Republican Party perfect? Heavens to Betsy, no! The vast majority of them need a spine replacement because theirs went to jelly. But your local Republicans, although far from perfect, stand on the side of God, Life – both young and old, and the right to defend yourself and your property. We believe the government should have limitations and sometime binders.

The entire point of this rant is only this. Keep your eyes and ears open and test the truth. And when something smells fishy, get out the soap and clean it up.
