On Friday afternoon, Williamstown Bank officials presented North Star Child Advocacy Center (NSCAC) with a check for $3,030.00.

NSCAC Executive Director Greg Collins says this payout from The Giving Cup is the largest received since becoming a beneficiary in April of 2023.  “Its absolutely amazing that so many people have committed to supporting North Star through this method.  The money we have receivedfrom The Giving Cup has been put to good use and it is giving us the capability to do better for our children,” states Collins.

The Giving Cup is strictly a donation-based coffee shop inside the Lubeck and South Parkersburg branches, with all proceeds going toward Williamstown Banks selected local beneficiaries. Both customers and non-customers have the opportunity to make a donation to one of their selected beneficiaries, and in return, they will receive thank you beverages of their choice. The larger the donation amount, the more beverages and incentives will be given as a token of our appreciation.

Williamstown Bank CEO/president Sharon Anderson states, “We are a community minded bank.  That’s not just a catch phrase for us, we genuinely try to make a difference.  The Giving Cup has provided us with the perfect way for people in our community to give back, all the while getting something tasty in return,” states Anderson.

Proceeds from The Giving Cup currently go to The Arc of the MOV, Williamstown Elementary School, Parkersburg South High School, Lubeck Elementary School, Lubeck Area Volunteer Fire Departments and North Star Child Advocacy Center.

“Since beginning The Giving Cup, we have been able to provide these non-profits, collectively, over $60,000.00,” states Anderson.  “This donation today makes a total of $12,535.00 we have been able to provide North Star alone.  They only became a beneficiary in April of 2023, so that is a lot of help in a relatively short time.  It means that people are visiting The Giving Cup to provide them with financial help.  Its truly amazing what our community does on a daily basis to help those that need help, without ever wanting recognized for it,” concludes Anderson.

“We are so appreciative of everyone that is buying from The Giving Cup rather than a commercial coffee store,” says Collins.  “One of these six beneficiaries receives 100% of the amount paid for their drink.  Williamstown Bank pays for the product, employees and cost of running the donation-based coffee shop.  What bank does that?  We feel so fortunate to have been blessed with a community that supports what we do and who we do it for,” concludes Collins.
