Charleston, W.Va. – Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced he has formally submitted a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) waiver request to the federal government to remove soda and add healthy food under the program.
The SNAP waiver request is part of Governor Morrisey’s “Four Pillars of a Healthy West Virginia” which he unveiled earlier this year. As part of the Governor’s “Four Pillars,” he is working to introduce changes to SNAP, including work requirements and promoting healthy food options. Governor Morrisey also continues to promote the Mountaineer Mile to encourage West Virginians to get daily exercise.
