Starcher Requests a Bond Reduction in Calhoun Case

Samantha Starcher appeared before Judge Richard Tatterson in the Calhoun County Circuit Court for a Pretrial hearing on the charge Grand Larceny. She appeared with her Attorney Joel Baker and Prosecuting Attorney Nigel Jeffries as well as Roane County Prosecuting Attorney Josh Downey regarding charges pending in Roane County.

Starcher’s Attorney made a request to have the current $50,000 bond reduced, citing Magistrate Lora Davis was in a relationship with Starcher’s ex-boyfriend and she felt that had been the reason the bond was set so high.

When Prosecutor Jeffries was asked later if the bond was reduced, he stated that it was not done at the hearing today. Since the defendant’s newest felony case is still pending in magistrate court, the circuit court does not have jurisdiction to change the bond at this time. However, if the defendant waives her preliminary hearing in magistrate court on the transporting drugs into a correctional facility, the Judge indicated that he would entertain a bond motion in the boundover case.

The defendant is set for a sentencing hearing in Braxton County on November 14th and in this case of grand larceny on November 29th at 10 am.
