The first edition of the Ridgeview was actually December 30th, 2021. But the official date with the WV Secretary of State’s Office was January 1, 2022; and here we are 3,282 posts later. We’ve had a few bumps in the road, more than a few journalism lessons and advice from cousin Ron. A few heart aches, but tons of blessings and it’s my joy to celebrate two years of sharing the events of Calhoun and West Virginia.
If I were permitted a highlight reel of the events of of this two year span, the vast majority of it would be on fire department scenes with my vastly under appreciated and unrecognized retired fire chief, 1982 Foundation events, and the support of my kids and grandkids. Ridgeview has been from the beginning a family affair. Whether or not they wanted to come along for the ride.
I send my gratitude to the readers of the Ridgeview who have sent words of encouragement to me, and very few complaints. And even the complaints were educational in one form or another. My advertisers have been the bomb! Thank you for supporting the Ridgeview. To those who have found it in their hearts to contribute to the costs of the Ridgeview, you have no idea how much you are needed and appreciated. We’ve had some very lean months going into to David’s retirement, you were often literally the coffee in my cup.
I cannot express enough thank you’s to those of you who stop by every day. And I pray that 2024 will see Ridgeview grow into more a part of your day.
Lots of love,
Shari Johnson, Publisher
