Brownridge Sentenced in Felonious Crime Against J&B Drug Store

Deandre Dean Brownridge

Deandre Dean Brownridge appeared for sentencing before Judge Anita Ashley on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Mr. Brownridge plead guilty to the felony charge of Attempt to commit a felony, having attempted to obtain a prescription from J & B Drug Store through false representation.

The defense attorney addressed the Court on Mr. Brownridge’s behalf with a statement regarding his life as a youth in Chicago, Illinois being a struggle. Having been raised by a single mother with his siblings on the streets of Chicago where he still resides having shared custody of a 6 year old and 2 other children with his current fiancé. Having never been incarcerated, the attorney asked Judge Ashley to consider the time served of 251 days as an adequate sentence.

Mr. Brownridge then plead his own cause for a light sentence, “severely apologizing” to Calhoun County, West Virgnia, J & B Drug Store and the Judge for the crime he committed. He stressed that he no longer wants any part of a life of crime, but wants to returned to Chicago to work and become a role model for his children. He wanted nothing to strip him away from his family as this crime and punishment had done.

Judge Anita Ashley informed the defendant that she appreciated his apologies, but, he needed to be punished. She reminded the defendant that he had committed the crime while on supervised probation for crimes in the State of Illinois. He had crossed three State lines to get to Grantsville, West Virginia where he had committed a premeditated crime having researched the area he was going to. Upon arrest, he attempted to run, fought the police and attempted escape. She further stated that during his time on bond he had smoked marijuana on the courthouse steps. Taking all that into consideration Brownridge was sentenced to 1-3 years with credit for time served.

Because he has served 271 days he will be eligible for parole very soon. The defendant was also ordered to pay restitution to Trooper Brian Young of $109.
