Town Refusing to Pay O&M Salary

The Calhoun O&M Water Board met briefly Monday night following the Calhoun County Commission Meeting. This meeting was called after the Town of Grantsville’s refusal to pay newly Hired O&M Manager, Brian Arthur, to determine their next action.

At a previous meeting the unanimous hiring of Mr. Arthur was made by the three boards: Mt. Zion PSD, Pleasant Hill PSD as well as the Town of Grantsville. The funding comes from an ARP Grant given to them by the Calhoun County Commission. The Town of Grantsville was given $80,000 to cover the salary of the O&M Manager and Mt. Zion PSD was given money to cover the Manager’s benefits. But according to those attending last night’s meeting the Town denies that it was a full hire, but rather just a consideration for hiring Arthur, even though there were two attorney’s attending the meeting when the vote was made, including the Town’s attorney.

The meeting only lasted long enough for the board to continue the matter until both the Town’s Attorney and the County’s Attorney has the opportunity to discuss the Town’s issues on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026.

Although the Town had informed the O&M Board that they would not be attending last night’s meeting, Councilwoman Chasity Shock appeared on the Town’s behalf. Also attending was Commissioners Craig Arthur, and Lee Rush, Ari White, Trenton Cunningham, Robin Hughes, and Tony Arthur with both the Town and County Attorney’s via Teams.
