A Family’s Turn into Wright Road went terribly Wrong

The Kimble family of Keyser, WV had planned a family get away to relax on the McCroskey family farm on Wright Road for the weekend, 4 miles East of Grantsville. But as they attempted to turn into Wright Road, about 8:30 Saturday evening, Sophia Steigleder had began to pass, not realizing they were turning. Their collision sent Sophia’s car into the hillside and damaged the front end of the Kimble family’s 2015 Equinox.

Kory and Elizabeth Kimble, and their three children, ages 14, 10 and ”almost” 11 were shook up but declined transport by Minnie Hamilton Health Service’s Ambulance that was on scene. Sofia was not injured nor was she cited for the accident. Trooper J.B. Hunt was the investigating officer on scene with Trooper J.D. Richards. Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department responded for traffic control and scene management, and Westfall’s Wrecker Service brought two wreckers to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles.

    1. Police are not required to give a citation. That is entirely at the investigating officer’s discretion whether or not the accident warrants one. The driver did have insurance and one person was ruled at fault.
