A History Lesson from Creston

A number of Wirt County residents attended the W. Va. State Folk Festival at Glenville and enjoyed some excellent traditional music.

J. P. Marks took Mr. & Mrs. Cooter Marks, Mr. & Mrs. John Griffin, Rev. Carl Marks & a aof others to Cracker Barrell for a special meal.  After waiting for an hour it was reported that the meal may not have been worth the wait.

The Creston area received some good rains.

The federal government is back at it working to ban gas cook stoves along with natural gas heating stoves.

 WVU is working on a government funded project to recover rare earth minerals from acid mine waste.  Presently America gets the minerals from China.

A number of Creston area folks have been on the puny list.

Encino, a big driller in Ohio has apparently “cracked the code” on being able to get oil from the oil region of the Utica shale.  There are billions of barrels and now it can be recovered.  Who cares what the sheiks of Araby or the Russian oligarchs think. The new wells are in Columbiana County.

The new world order people put out a report stating that by 2030 we would no longer be allowed to eat meat and that folks would be restricted to 3 pieces of new clothing/year.  We must protect the planet, don’t you know.

President Trump has been charged under Woodrow Wilson’s Espionage Act enacted during World War I.  Wilson used the law to throw thousands of his enemies into prison.  Wilson’s men came to Creston and had a big meeting.  They showed pictures of German soldiers roasting Belgian babies on spits.  Old Hiram Campbell who had been in the Union Army said soldiers did not do such things.  Of course there is the small matter of how these pictures came about.  The head government man said Campbell was guilty of some crime and everyone heard him and they could have the trial right then and the government men could take him away to prison.  The crowd took offense as Mr. Campbell was well thought of and to use modern language he was not guilty of disinformation or misinformation or any other PC garbage.  The Creston folks “suggested” that the government men get back on the boat and leave town and never come back.  Old Hi Campbell was able to live out his life at home.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $70.78/bbl. with condensate fetching just $54.78/bbl and Marcellus & Utica light bringing $61.78 and medium $70.78/bbl.  Henry Hub natural gas rose to $2.63 and gasolene most places locally took a big jump in price.  One of the prognosticators said that later in the year prices would skyrocket
