Alfred Bailey Stump Jr. “Babe”, 90, of Parkersburg, WV passed away at home with his family Saturday February 8, 2025.
Babe was born November 9,1934 in Stumptown, WV, the son of Alfred B. Stump and Almedia Kerby Stump. He was a 1952 graduate of Calhoun County High School. Babe enlisted in the United States Army in 1954. After honorably completing his military duty, he began a 35+ year career at E. I. DuPont, from which he retired in 1996.
Babe and his wife Judy raised three sons in Parkersburg. Babe was an energetic participant in their activities, coaching basketball at Gihon Elementary School and Little League baseball at Don Godbey fields. Babe was an avid golfer, spending countless hours on the course with everyone in the family as well as several good friends.
In addition to his parents, Babe is preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth; Bernard (Irene); Harold Lee (Bernice); Carl (RosaLee); and a sister Ruth Joan Stump.
Babe is survived by his wife Judy, sons Jeffrey Stump (Rebekah Mathis-Stump) of Morgantown WV; Gregory Stump of Vienna, WV; Brian (Melissa) Stump of Boaz, WV; grandson Dr. Alfred B. Stump III “A.B.” (Alyssa Mennillo) of Parkersburg, WV; granddaughter Brittany Stump (Steven Andryzcik) of Pittsburgh, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend very special thanks to House Calls Hospice, Dr. Michael S. Moses, Dena Lambert, and Babe’s long-time caregiver and close friend, Pam Goff.
A funeral service will be conducted by Stump Funeral Home & Cremation,Inc., Grantsville Chapel, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV.
