Calhoun Youth Football travelled to Clay County on Sunday September 17th and came away with a sweep. On a rainy, muddy day Calhoun was able to take care of the ball and bring home 4 wins. The day started off with the flag team where Calhoun won the game by a score of 3-1. Gunner Burrows had 2 touchdown runs and Aaron Cunningham had 1 on the day for the little Red Devils.

Calhouns C Team came into the day riding a 2 game win streak and hoped to keep the momentum going. They were able to just that walking away with a 45-20 victory moving them to 3-2 on the season (3-1 in Conference play). Calhoun was able to score almost every play they touched the ball. Offensively Raines Riddel, Braxton Carter and Carper Summers each had 2 rushing touchdowns and Ronan Haney added 1 touchdown rushing the ball.

The B team brought their undefeated record into the day and was able to keep it that way with a 37-6 victory. Josh Hardbarger had 5 touchdowns on the day. He had 3 rushing touchdowns, he also had a receiving touchdown on a pass from Haygan Houchin, and also had a 55 yard kickoff return for a score. Brantley Schoolcraft added a rushing touchdown to round out the scoring.

It started raining harder near the end of the B team game and into the beginning of the A team game leading to a real muddy mess. From the start of the A game you could tell it was going to be a defensive struggle and a big play or two would determine the outcome. The game went into halftime tied up 0-0. Early in the second half Wyatt Lawson was able to break a run for a 64 yard score to get the Red Devils on the board. Calhouns defense was able to play tough and hold Clay county the entire game. Late in the 4th quarter Bentley Snodgress intercepted a Clay county pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown to put the game away. With the win the Red Devils were able to remain undefeated on the season.

Next week the Elk River Huskies will travel to Mt. Zion on Sunday September 24th. All 3 games will have playoff implications as Elk River is undefeated in conference play at all 3 levels. So Calhoun C teams will be looking to knock off the Huskies as they look to stay in playoff contention. B and A teams will be a battle of undefeated teams as both Elk and Calhoun are undefeated and tied for the top spot in the standings at both levels. If you are not doing anything come out and give our kids a big crowd and root them on. Flag game will start at noon, C team will begin at 1. With B and A team following.
