Arrest Made in Calhoun in Case of Missing Clay County Juvenile

On Saturday February 24th, 2024, at approximately midnight, Trooper C. Lane of the WVSP Clay County Detachment received information that a runaway juvenile, 15 years of age, out of Clay County was being concealed at the address of 25642 S. Calhoun Hwy, Chloe, WV, Calhoun County.

On the same date, at approximately 12:30 a.m. Trooper J.D. Richards and Trp. C.L. Lane made contact with the homeowner who invited them into the residence at 25642 South Calhoun Hwy. From this point, the Troopers were allowed to search the residence for the juvenile and found Mason Bouie Sigmon, 19 years of age, who is not related to the victim, who did knowingly conceal a runaway juvenile, with knowledge that law enforcement was actively seeking the same. The juvenile was concealed in his room in the upstairs of the residence. The juvenile disclosed to the Troopers that Sigman knew she had ran away from home as well as having knowledge to the delinquency of the victim by aiding her in avoiding law enforcement detection.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. Trooper Richards took Mason Bouie Sigman into custody on the charges of concealing a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was then transported to the office of the WVSP for processing.

At approximately 1:24 a.m. the defendant was mirandized and interviewed at which time he confessed to Trooper Richards that he knowingly concealed the juvenile for the night who was going to be picked up by an unknown individual who would then take her to Charleston, WV on February 24th, 2024. He stated that the juvenile was actively trying to hide from law enforcement detection detailing that she had to hide for two months with the goal to travel by any means to Charleston, WV to avoid detection.

In the State of West Virginia Code §61-8D-10. Contributing to delinquency of a child;
(a) Any person eighteen years of age or older who knowingly contributes ot or encourages the delinquency of a child is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than $50 nor more than $500 or confined for a period not exceeding one year or both.

In the State of West Virginia Code §61-2-14 Concealing a Child; (b) Any person, other than the father or mother, who illegally, or for any unlawful, improper or immoral purpose other than the purposes stated in subsection (a) of this section or section fourteen-a or fourteen-c of this article, seizes, take or secretes a child under sixteen years of age, from the person or persons having lawful charge of such child, shall be guilty of a felony, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be confined in the penitentiary not less than one nor more than ten years.

In Case Numbers 24-M07F-00003 and 24-M07M-0004, Mason Bouie Sigman is being held at the WV Central Regional Jail on a $30,000 bond. The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
