Calhoun Middle High School teacher Dan Cosgrove reported that he spotted two Bald Eagles as he traveled to work on Tuesday morning, November 7th.
He said the pair were flying around the West Fork, going south on Rt. 16 between Nicut and right before the old Reip’s store–“on the crazy curve…”
Perhaps the pair were a Mr. & Mrs. Male and female bald eagles mate for life, only finding a new mate if theirs dies, and lay from one to three eggs a year. Juvenile bald eagles are dark brown with white mottling, and don’t develop their iconic white head and tail until they are four to five years old.
