According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Brian E. Young of the West Virginia State Police, he responded to the residence of Arnold Palmer Banfield, 2786 Big Root Road, Big Bend, WV following a call from Lucy Banfield stating that her husband had become irrational and was shooting at her as she was leaving in her vehicle from their residence.
When Officer Young arrived on scene, Mrs. Banfield further stated that the accused had become angry over a domestic issue. When she attempted to leave the residence he obtained a 22. caliber pistol and began shooting at her as she left the residence. Upon further investigation of the scene, Trooper Young discovered multiple, freshly spent cartridges from a 22. caliber pistol in the areas where she said Mr. Banfield was shooting from, as well as the 22. caliber pistol mentioned by the Victim.
Arnold Banfied was charged with two felony counts (1) Wanton Endangerment with a firearm 61-7-12, and (2) Use of a Firearm during Commission of a Felony 61-7-15(a) and taken to the Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods, WV. Bond has been set at $50,000.
