The WV State House of Delegates passed a bill on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 that will allow people to carry concealed weapons on public college campuses . This bill will prohibit carrying open gun on public college campuses, nor will it allow gun in areas such as stadiums.
The final step of Senate Bill 10 would be the signature of Governor Jim Justice. If signed, it allows for those who have a concealed carry permit to have a gun on college campuses starting in July of 2024. The current law of West Virginia prohibits carrying guns on college and university campuses. The Campus Self-Defense Act past with a 29-4 vote in the States Senate chamber and an 84-13 vote in the State’s house.
