In a complaint filed in Calhoun Magistrate Court by Cpl. D.C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police, it was reported that on Friday, August 11, 2023 at around 12:50 p.m. the officer observed a silver Ford Escape traveling southbound on State Route 16 in the 2500 block of South Calhoun Highway. Cpl. Moore had prior knowledge that the vehicle was not legal and the operator did not have a valid operators license and had a previously issued capias from the Calhoun Magistrate Court.
Cpl. Moore stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be 19 year old, Cody Allen Blosser. After checking, the status of the defendants operators license was found to be suspended for unpaid citations effective March 20, 2023. A check of the vehicle showed the registration of the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle and the defendant t advised that he did not have insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle inspection sticker had also expired in 2022.
Cody Allen Blosser was placed under arrest and asked if he gave the officer permission to search the vehicle, to which Blosser gave permission. While searching the vehicle Sheriff Knight found multiple smoking devices, a marijuana bud grinder and other items used for storing or smoking controlled substances.
The defendant is being held at the WV Central Regional Jail having been charged with Suspended Revoked Operators, Improper Registration, No Insurance, Expired Inspection and Possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanor offenses. He was also arrested for a prior offense that occurred on March 1, 2023 when the defendant was accused of destroying the storm door of Lyle Kerby after being asked to vacate a rental property causing damage in the amount of $1,148.98.
Bond for Mr. Blosser was set at $6,000. Cash/surety. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
