Calhoun County Bootstrap Business Organization has begun the work to establish their first agritourism project with the plowing and preparation for planting the Bootstrap Pumpkin Patch.
Pumpkin Patches have become popular family events in the fall but have required traveling quite a distance to enjoy the adventure. Local businesses and community leaders have decided to make it a local venture and adventure using Farm to Table opportunities for commission sales of locally made pumpkin products to provide individuals income and promotion opportunity while providing families a fun day of pumpkin picking and activities.
Very much in the planning stages of the event, a community planting day will be held soon with eight varieties of pumpkins to be planted, activities to be planned and overall organization of the event to be strategized.
