What began as a brush fire, quickly spread to a camper that sat near the home of Fred Brown on Lavada Road in the Pleasant Hill area. It didn’t take long for the camper Fire to heat up catching the siding on the house and eventually consuming the home until it was non-livable.

The call came in shortly before six with the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department dispatched along with the Minnie Hamilton Health System ambulance.

Realizing that the fire was spreading fast, a request from Grantsville went out for mutual aid from Arnoldsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Smithville Volunteer Fire Department who both provided two trucks each to help combat the fire. Minnie Hamilton’s Ambulance was pulled off the scene toward the end of the incident for a patient on the West Fork.

All crews returned to stations following the effort to save the home.

Yellow Creek Truck Fire

Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department has had two days of calls with the second truck fire incident in one month. Tuesday night, February 28th at around 8:00 p.m. a truck belonging to Bill Bunner on Yellow Creek Road caught fire from an unknown cause. Mr. Bunner wasn’t home at the time of the fire and the truck was a total loss. Fire fighters had to drag hose across the creek to where the truck was parked making for a cold night for any of those who could not jump the stream.
