On Sunday August 28th the Calhoun Little Red Devils hosted the Gilmer Little Pioneers. The day started off with Flag football. Gilmer had 5 scores while Calhoun had some nice runs but was unable to score.

The second game of the day was the A team. Gilmer came into the game undefeated having an impressive season so far. Their Defense had not been scored on and they were averaging around 50 points a game. This streak continued when they visited Mt. Zion as they were able to pull out a 53-0 victory. Calhoun offensive stats was Preston Sauer had 3 rushes for 3 yards and Jace Lemon had 2 carries for 6 yards. Defensively Preston Sauer led the team with 5 tackles. Trevor Mayle, Sam Bailey, Clayton Foster, Ezra Anderson and Kason Stamper each had 3 tackles. Braydon Hardway had 2 tackles and Landon Hawkins added 1 tackle.

The C team did not have a game this week as Gilmer does not have a team at that level. So Calhoun officially picked up a 6-0 win as a forfeit.

The B team finished up the day with an impressive 48-0 victory. Much like the Gilmer A team, Calhouns B team is having a stellar season to date. Coming into the week Calhoun was undefeated, have not allowed any points and averaging over 40 points a game. Nothing changed this week as Calhouns Defense completely shut down Gilmer allowing only a couple plays with positive yards and not allowing any points again this week. Bentley Snodgress, Liam Yeager and Tristan Rogers led the team with 4 tackles each. Koby Crislip and Chandler Cottrell each had 3 tackles. Tyler Mayle, Jase Farley, Josh Hardbarger and Carter Thompson added 2 tackles each. And Silas Cunningham had 1 tackle on the day. Offensively Liam Yeager had 3 passing completions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns (45 and 60 yards) and an extra point. Tyler Mayle was on the receiving end of both of Yeagers Touchdown passes. Mayle had 105 receiving yards with scores if 45 and 60 yards. Bentley Snodgress had 1 catch for a 3 yard extra point. On the Rushing end Snodgress led the team with 116 yards on 5 carries with 2 TD’s (25 and 8 yards). Josh Hardbarger added 70 rushing yards on 3 carries. He had 1 Touchdown of 47 yards and 2 extra points. Jase Farley had 2 carries for 68 yards with 63 yards of that being a long touchdown run. Tyler Mayle had 3 rushes for 16 yards with 1 touchdown (10 yards) and 2 extra points. Grayson Laughlin had 1 carry for a 3 yard extra point. Brantley Schoolcraft had a 2 yard run and Liam Yeager added a 1 yard rush.

The Little Red Devils have an open week this coming weekend with the Labor Day Holiday. They will continue their season traveling to Braxton County on Sunday September 11th. Flag will start at 11 am. A team will play starting at Noon with C and then B teams to follow.
