Calhoun Centennial Bowl – Another Wayne Underwood Field Memory in the Books

Drone Image captured by Dakota Laughlin

Alumni across the ages took to the Wayne Underwood Field for the Calhoun Centennial Bowl with a final score of 32 to 26, White Team wins with coaches Jeff Church, Keith Smith and Kevin Yeager, against Red Team, Coaches Paul Goodrich and Roger Carter. But as the prognostication went of one of our favorite people, Prinicipal Robert Bonar, for certain Calhoun won. We won a victory for School sportsmanship, Calhoun fans, against the doubters, and for the hopefuls. The 1982 Foundation honored hometown gal Crystal Laughlin Mersh for pulling the event and us together.

It was wonderful to hear the voice of Calhoun Football, Roger Propst, back in the press box and new voices such as that of Kyerstan Perkins broadcasting from the field as coaches hooped and hollered into her microphone. Kudos to Clayton Barnhart for attempting to get the cheering section going for Calhoun, a worthy goal for not only alumni but current students as well.

While last nights attention was on the players on the field there were so many more off the field that made the night a success. A huge shoutout to the nameless numbers who are always behind the scenes making things happen.

Below is a short clip of the pregame while Almost Heaven West Virginia was playing, and below that is a photo album of the night. Make sure you scroll left or right to see the numerous images of a night of history.
