Crystal Mersh, President of the 1982 Foundation, shared the news yesterday that she had received notification from the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History that the Calhoun County Community Center, formerly the Calhoun County High School will be considered for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
This has been quite the journey for the 1982 Foundation, their supporters and volunteers who continually work to bring progress from the past. As evident from the picture on Calhoun Realty’s social media page 2 years ago, (below) and a recent photo taken by photographer Roger Propst (above) the change has been significant and encouraging to Calhoun County as they’ve watched the transformation taking place. It’s brought hope to people who have faced economic depression, loss of citizenry, and apathy for years and can now see the potential and power of community
