Calhoun’s Season Opener is a Hard Loss against Rival Gilmer County

The season opener was a tough one for the Calhoun Middle High School Varisty as the Red Devils met head to head with Gilmer County Titans at the Sue Morris Athletic Complex in Glenville on Friday, August 25th.

Gilmer County’s Tyler Bush scored the first of several touchdowns for Gilmer in the first quarter with Calhoun’s first by Jaden Gibson, not coming until the third quarter. Although Calhoun’s team worked hard the night was not their night to shine with the final score ending at 50 to 6 in Gilmer’s favor. Calhoun’s Varsity Cheerleading sqaud did not falter in their support for the home team. Under the direction of Coach Whitney Butler the squad cheered on the team and encouraged the crowd with their bright smiles and talent at being wonderful representativies for the school and being the spirit of the team. The fans of Calhoun did the school proud with a great attendance on the visitors side. .

The halftime show of the Calhoun Middle High School Marching band, Directed by Mr. Michael McHenry, was worthy of missing a trip to the snack bar with their performance Show of “Rise of the Phoenix.” The Band, Auxiliary and Magjorettes did an outstanding show for the Gilmer and Calhoun fans.
