Carl Ray Osborne, 71, of Five Forks, WV, departed this world for his heavenly home on April, 9 2025. Carl was born May 26, 1953, in Elizabeth, WV. He was the youngest son of William Carl Osborne and Nila Claran (Kight) Osborne of Grantsville, WV.
Carl was a big hearted man. Those who knew Carl will remember him for his kindness and his infectious smile. He never met a stranger and could talk for hours with someone he just met, even if he was calling about a Traders Guide ad. He was the friendly face of the local gun trader and loved hunting, feeding the deer, visiting with friends and swapping hunting and trading stories.
He loved to deer hunt and loved riding his Harley. Carl retired from the Division of Highways as county supervisor with 37 years service. However his greatest joy in life was family. He loved, and was so proud of, his sons and adored his precious grandchildren; he was . . . “Papaw”.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Sandra Sue Osborne; two sons, Christopher J. (Kristy) Osborne and Matthew C. (Stephanie) Osborne both of Grantsville; six grandchildren, Kinlea Church, Jayda Osborne, Caden Osborne, Corbin Osborne, Carly Osborne, and Paisley Osborne. Also surviving is his sister Judith Gregory and nephew Bill of Bristol, TN, and sister, Doris Campbell and nephew and niece Tim and Barbara Jo of Scott Depot, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents William “Carl” Osborne and Nila C. Kight Osborne; one brother James R. Osborne and one sister Barbara J. Campbell.
A funeral service will be held at Five Forks Community Church, Big Bend,WV, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Broomstick Cemetery, Big Bend, WV.
