In a Criminal Complaint filed by Trooper Brian E. Young of the West Virginia State Police, he had responded to a motorist assist call on WV Route 33, near Sand Ridge in Calhoun County where he spoke with Rickey Allen Carpenter Jr.
Carpenter informed Trooper Young that he and his friend had ran out of gas and his friend had went to find gas.
Trooper Young checked Mr. Carpenter’s ID which revealed he had multiple warrants from multiple counties in West Virginia. The driver of the vehicle did not return so the vehicle was towed due to no proof of insurance and improper registration.
While searching the vehicle, Trooper Young discovered a black bag between tge drivers and passengers seat containing a plastic bag of white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine with an approved field test kit.
Rickey Allen Carpenter Jr was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is currently in the Central Regional Jail with no bond listed. If convicted he may be confined in jail not less than 90 days nor more than 6 months, or fined not more than $1,000 or both. Provided, that notwithstanding any other provision to this act to the contrary, any first offense fo
r possession of Synthetic Cannabinoids as defined in subdivision (32) subsection, (d), section 101, article 1 of this chapter 3,4-methylened.
Carpenter is also facing the following charges in Clay County:
- Defective equipment
- Failure to change address within 20 days
- Failure to produce operators
- Improper registration
- No seatbelt
- No Insurance
- Driving While License Suspended
Gilmer County Charges he is facing is:
- Trespassing
- Grand Larceny
