Last night, Wednesday, February 14th, our Calhoun Middle School Lady Red Devils basketball team hosted tournament action against Braxton County’s Lady Knights. What started out with the Lady Knights taking the lead early in the 1st quarter quickly turned into a neck and neck game for the remainder of the first half, with our Lady Red Devils leading by one at the half.
After halftime the Lady Red Devils came out and hit the gas and never let up, pulling away from Braxton in third quarter and keeping the lead for the rest of the game.
One highlight of the game was seeing our student section take an active role in cheering on our girls and keeping everyone, including the opposing fans, fired up! We hope to see more student involvement in the upcoming games for both Middle and High School basketball.
Our Lady Red Devils will travel to Braxton County Armory Friday night to play in the Final Four tournament games. Game time and opponent TBA.
