Two major projects under way on the Wayne Underwood Field are the reconstruction of the old bus garage and the new addition of the bath house being added to the concession stand area at the Wayne Underwood Field entrance. Crews are making quick work of the two buildings which also builds excitement for what those new constructions will mean for the 1982 Foundation’s plans and goals.

With the roof replacement complete, crews have now moved on to refacing the buildings. The original windows appeared when the siding was removed. There is a pair also on the other section of the structure. New windows will be installed to return the front of the building to its original appearance. White metal vertical siding will be installed from the bricks to the rooftop. The bricks from there down will be painted red mirroring the other buildings located below the drive in front of the school.

Work crews hope to have only a day or two more into the completion of the block portion of the pool house.

View facing the old school. The overhang on the front of the Concession Stand will be removed, the plywood shutters over the openings will be removed, and the contractor will block up the openings. There will be no door between the two buildings. The old Concession Stand’s door will be the access to what will be general storage.

With the Spring Fling on the schedule in just a few week, the community will become a part of the construction crew through event volunteerism and help to bring the community, local, regional and state to the Foundation for awareness of the what’s down the line.
