Creston News

Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

The Creston area received snow Friday evening.  By Sunday a lot of it was gone.

Roger Goff has not yet whipped the pneumonia fever but is better.

Tom Mowrey is now much better and is at his home.

Ellen Hedge ended up back in the hospital.  Each time she had PT she felt worse,  Then it was discovered that, in addition to the back fractures, she had a fracture in her hip.

A fellow who was dining at Shade Tree recalled that when he was a little boy they would go to Cap Boice’s service station in Creston to get gasoline.  Cap had a hand pump that worked back and forth and put the gasoline in a glass container that was marked and held 10 gallons.  Then the gasoline flowed out of the container into the tank on the automobile.  He noted that he was amazed at how all that worked.  Speaking of Shade Tree, their St. Valentine’s Day special was a great success and they ran out of steak.

The Wirt road crew was ditching on the Little Creek road.  One needs to be careful now as the ditch is deep.  Also someone dropped off a track hoe beside the Little Creek bridge.

The 811 people were in Creston and marked gas lines along W. Va. 5 and the Richardsonville Road as well as something on the Little Creek road at the junction of the Ann’s Run road.

Apparently someone in Building 5 reads the Creston news as the potholes [imperfections in the surface of the roadway] on I-77 are being fixed.  More likely some important person lost a tire on their luxury vehicle and demanded action.

An outfit called Tenaska is leasing 80,000 acres of “pore space” in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia for CO2 sequestration.  It is said that the rental will be $50/acre/year but folks need to read “the fine print” very carefully.  Such wells exist now in other parts of the nation but none have yet to be permitted in the entire EPA region that includes W. Va.  Meanwhile  North Dakota, Wyoming, Texas & Louisiana have now obtained primacy over the EPA for such wells in their territories & W. Va. plans to join them.  It was noted that to do this would cost $millions and that it took Louisiana five years and they had access to plenty of men who had the requisite qualifications to qualify & comply.  It was noted that now the “big boys” are getting into the carbon dioxide sequestration scam and that not even Donald Trump could stop scientifically dubious programs that put the US at a disadvantage to the rest of the world.  It was noted that this is a $909 billion scam.  Money talks.

It turns out that the Podesta Brothers lobbying firm works for Qatar, communist Chinese firms & a Bulgarian firm tied to Russia that does not want the US as a competitor in the LNG (liquified natural gas) business.  The one is now the senile one’s “climate czar” and congressional candidate Riley Moore formerly worked for the lobby firm.  Bloomberg & the Rockefeller family is also fighting against the use of natural gas.  Thus, Biden’s shut down of new LNG export facilities helps Iran, Russia and other nations.  Son Hunter’s dealings with CEFC quickly come to mind.

Some Creston folks were among the nearly 200 folks who flocked to Arnoldsburg for the Calhoun County Lincoln Day dinner.  The food was great and everyone had a good time.  Jim Justice was there and admitted that, yes, Larry Puccio works for him. Puccio is a lifetime buddy of Broadway Joe Manchin and has minded Manchin’s business affairs for decades.  Mac Warner who is running for governor noted that Larry Puccio also works for governor candidate Moore Capito.  One might say it is all one big arrangement, just different names when necessary or convenient – the state equivalent of the deep state swamp down on the lower Potomac.  Speaking of that Moore Capito’s mother who is a US Senator voted against W. Va. and joined with Chuck U. Shumer and Mitch McConnell to send more money to Ukraine even though the army there is now almost wiped out.  The war is run by the US State Department and there is to be NO accounting of where funds go.

The governor held off the foreclosure of one of his prize assets as it turns out there are additional creditors with liens.  The new one is JP Morgan Chase who is owed circa $192 million.  The sale may happen in April.

The W. Va. Trappers Association annual spring fur sale & rendezvous will be March 1 through March 3 at the Recreation Center (the old Poor Farm) at Glenville.  Only finished fur will be accepted.  For details call Jeremiah at 304-916-3329.

The tin mill [cans] that operates in Weirton is to shut down throwing 950 men out of work.  Seems that the deep state folks want cans made in foreign nations & we all know why.

Antero announced that the firm is now producing 3.4 bcfe/day of natural gas & 193,000 bbl./day of natural gas liquids.  EQT announced that the firm produces 5.52 bcfe/day of natural gas and that if the price stays low the firm will shut in production.  The NYMEX price for natural gas dropped to $1.58/MMBTU. Bcfe means billion cubic feet equivalent.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $78.19/bbl. while condensate fetched $60.19/bbl. and Marcellus & Utica light brought $69.19 and medium $78.19/bbl.  It can be noted that the price of gasolene has taken a significant jump.
