Creston News: Opposition on all Sides, Church, Medical & Business

Jim Matheny brought a message on behalf of the Gideons at the Burning Springs M. E. Church as the minister was at Annual Conference at Buckhannon.  Who knows what the big muckety mucks were up to there.  There have been real problems caused by those who do not believe what is written in The Book.  It is now very clear that Christianity is under vicious attack and that would include church destruction by any means possible.  Some of it has to do with those who used to be called pedophiles.  For them, by whatever means, children are to be groomed.  Just ask Target.

Wilma & Kim Mowrey motored up in Ohio for a family wedding.

A number of Creston residents went to Wheeling to participate in Rev. Craig Blankenship’s 70th birthday gala.  There was a lot of commercial traffic noted on the Ohio River.

Mary Brown, age 75, passed away.  She was the wife of Basil [Junior] Brown.  Burial was in the Wright cemetery.

There are now a lot of new fawns and some seem very small.  With lots of first cutting hay already up not so many fawns will end up in hay binds and similar equipment.

The local area experienced dry weather showers on Sunday.  Many potato patches look good and some are in bloom but moisture is needed to grow fine tasty tubers.

The outfit that owns Coplin Clinic in Elizabeth is building a big addition to the building.  It would seem that if one is “connected” there is lots of money available for whatever. WVU is expanding their medical business venture although there are reports of financial woes at the Morgantown based operation run by Perfesser Gee Haw who spoke about forcibly relocating W. Va. citizens to “make delivery of services easier”.

Elderberries are in full bloom now.  That means there will lots of the tasty berries to make pies, jellies and jams.  Some rain will make lots of raspberries and black berries. They taste good too.

Little Miss Woodchuck [Little Miss Ground Hog] was calling in Creston last week.

There is now a lot of talk about the proposed completion of the Mountain Valley Pipe Line to take the gas away from West Virginia to market.  For some reason some seem opposed to using the raw material here to make products, provide employment and generate wealth.  There is talk of banning fertilizer elsewhere so why not make it in West Virginia with our abundant natural gas which presently is very cheap – in fact selling for less than $1/MMBTU.  The Henry Hub price is $2.25 just to show the gap between here & there.  Of course EQT wants to export gas as LNG and perhaps some down at the Mouth of the Elk answer to Toby Rice.

Leon Jurasik was attending to business at the Creston Space Dock.

Mr. & Mrs. Cooter Marks spent the weekend camping on Lemuel’s Run.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $70.29/bbl. with condensate fetching just $54.29/bbl. and Marcellus & Utica light bringing $61.29 & medium $0.29/bbl.  Meanwhile gasolene, for the most part, locally took a 20 cents/gallon jump which would be $4.80.bbl.
