Creston News: Updates on Events and the Antics of the Clean Air Task Force

Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion.

There weren’t that many antique vehicles at the Creston car show but everyone seemed to have a good time.  Also there was a flea market and lots of folks came to shop & just look around and sample the goodies in the kitchen.  Jerry Hopkins won a prize and he told about getting to meet Gen. Mike Flynn, the man who was set up by a federal agency at the request of the Big Eared One & the fellow who eats ice cream & pudding.

The next community building meeting will be on June 6 and be sure to mark your July calendar for the century Creston homecoming at the old Creston school which opened its doors in 1923.  The event will be on July 8 at 2 P. M. at the building.  All are invited — spread the word.

The comely Kim was visiting her mother Wilma Mowrey and helping at the community building on Saturday.  She gets to have another procedure to remove yet another kidney stone.

Tony Graham noted that he planned to do some kayaking.  He also noted that the fish were not much interested on the bait he was offering them.

Peonies in the Creston area came along too soon so there were not many to take to the graveyards. Daisies & other wild flowers had to be used to decorate the graves of loved ones.  It was also noted that in other counties there was very little use of herbicides along the highway.  Wirt, Calhoun & Jackson counties had vast amounts applied, often in front of occupied homes and on and around mail boxes.  The biggies down at the Mouth of the Elk have to make sure to “take care” of their vendors who “might be kind” to them.

Sen. president Baldy Blair decided that Sen. Karnes needed to go and the same for conservative members.  One might conclude that Baldy, who answers it seems to out of state folks, wants to build a little swamp of his own on Kanawha Boulevard.  Baldy apparently has a toady now “to take Karnes out.”

Grantsville is getting ready for the Wood Festival & lots is happening with the 1982 Foundation in Grantsville.

Connie Mollohan moved back to Creston and she seems to be happy.

Bob Weaver was in the Creston area taking pictures of historic homes.

The US Supreme Court ruled against WOTUS (Waters of the United States) a plan that would give the federal government control over any land where water ran of stood, even if for a brief time such as after a hard rain.  The ruling was 9 – 0 and the green weenies said court was MAGA and radical.  A local fellow has some “ocean front property” to sell too.

Ted Grim went on an “Oldies” ATV ride.  They had a good time.

The dry weather allowed a lot of fine first cutting hay to be put up making for excellent food for cattle come winter.

The Clean Air Task Force was forced to admit that from 2019 to 2021 the amount of lost or escaped methane [natural gas] had decreased by 28%.  If one listened to some ‘news’ reports one might conclude just the opposite.  Even at low prices natural gas is a marketable product and what goes into the air [except for government rules for utilities] generates no income.

The Henry Hub price of natural gas fell to $2.18 and EQT has advised that gas sold into their system in June will only be a buck which means that with charges & fees it might be such a thing that producers & royalty owners will owe money to give away their natural gas.  The gas marketer asked to be told if producers shut in their wells.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $71.67/bbl. with condensate fetching $55.67/bbl. and Marcellus & Utica light bringing $62.67 & medium $71.67/bbl.  Y grade NGL mix from the fractionation plant is $28.875/bbl.
