There was a good crowd for the food handler’s class at the Creston Community Building.
There seem to be several nice bucks which are still in the velvet. Those out and about see nice ones near Spencer, Grantsville & on Elizabeth hill. Over in Ohio and in Wood and other West Virginia counties some deer are dying from EHD which is Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease that is said to be spread by a midge or “noseeum”. Some of the invasive black buzzards were observed in the Palestine area. Sure Shot Jones & Dead Eye Dick obviously have their work cut out for them — civic duty.
Debbie Griffin came down with the shingles. Jack Griffin underwent surgery and is doing well.
Some local folks like to eat at Cracker Barrel but the chain now has a woke CEO who has decided that the characteristics that set the place apart were “non-inclusive” so now there is a “new look” kinda like what happened to Jaguar cars and Bud Light. The company stock took an immediate hit and some wonder if the company will survive. Likely there are not locally that many metrosexuals and soy boys to take up the slack from the ordinary folks that go there [or used to].
Terry Dye, Peggy Dye, Dennis Norman & Watson Sheppard were all calling in Creston.
Local folks who go to the rail road at Cass & visit the radio observatory at Green Bank know that there is a “radio silence” zone to not interfere with Green Bank & Sugar Grove radio telescopes. Now there are ways for local folks to communicate that do not interfere but bureaucrats apparently do not want to bother upgrading “RULES” that might benefit local folks.
Peanut laid down some fine second cutting hay.
Ira Lynch was consulting with his physician. The young at heart fellow has been having some problems.
Barbara Wright & Kathleen Cervone were visiting family up in Ohio. They learned that Jimmy Wright, who used to live in Creston, had a stroke some months back but is now recovering . They also visited Barb’s aunt who has cancer. Charles Russell noted, “Sounds like Jimmy” when he learned that Jimmy didn’t want anyone to know he had been under the weather.
Folks who travel over on Sycamore in Calhoun County note that a decent equipment operator could, in half a day, fix the road so folks could get through until someone forces the state road to replace the broken down bridge [small structure]. No doubt Rusty Hutson Jr.’s insurance would cover most of the cost since his crew did it spending the “Inflation Reduction Act government largesse”.
Some local folks attended the oil & gas meeting Saturday evening at the Doddridge County High School. A group, Country Roads United, talked about their plans for the next legislative session concerning transparency involving the state tax department, valuation of minerals in place and the lack of ability to check the meters that determine royalties, county ad valorem taxes & state severance taxes. The state tax department has valued some oil and gas [owned by W. Va. Citizens] at up to $48,000/acre but give big breaks to the out of state companies and anyone who can claim “utility” status. If the senators & members of the House of Delegates actually work for the taxpayers there will be an “attitude adjustment” at the State Tax Department and there will be a requirement that the state tax department & office of Oil & gas have access to the sales meters to get production numbers in real time [as is done in other states] and have the right to inspect and test the meters. A casual inspection of reports turned into the Office of Oil & Gas show major problems. There were 3 state senators and one delegate at the meeting. It was also made clear at the meeting that the plan to throw out Sen. Mike Azinger because he wouldn’t go with the “powers that be” was doomed to failure.
Down at the Mouth of the Elk there is fuss about “mandatory” vaccinations. Seems Big Pharma have folks who speak for them rather than the citizens & taxpayers. On the national level bad things continue to come out about the “wonderful” m-rna viruses and it would seem that such are part of Bill Gates’ plan to depopulate the planet so he and his elites do not have to bother with lesser mortals.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $62.66/bbl. With condensate fetching $44.66/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light was $51.66/bbl. Gasoline in Parkersburg dropped to the $2.50 range while elsewhere it was $3.20/gallon. With the plan to drill and lower the cost of energy it is now time for those in authority [like folks down at the Mouth of the Elk] and their counterparts in Harrisburg & Columbus to require that paraffin based Pennsylvania grade crude be sold at a price reflecting that it is used primarily for high end products, not motor fuel like asphalt based crudes.
