Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church & served Holy Communion.
Rev, Isaiah the Methodist Supt., Held a meeting at the Pisgah church concerning the dissolution of the Methodist Church and the fate of the remaining churches. For a long time the “leadership” was ’embarrassed’ by the “country churches” where folks actually believe what was written in the Bible and many continued to read the King James translation. The sophisticated erudite learned ones considered such at least naive and perhaps quaint. Now most of the country churches are gone as part of the attack on Christianity and western civilization. The new “woke” Methodist church has no place for men like John & Charles Wesley and Francis Asbury, who apparently once preached in what is now Wirt County. The new “enlightenment” is closing “big churches” in big towns and the “leadership” is keen on getting the $$ for what, in some places, is valuable real estate. As they say, “Follow the money.”
Kathleen Cervone got her chariot back after encountering a rock at “Red Cut” just before the Munday road but after driving away from the dealer/repair shop all the “idiot lights” came on so now it is back to the shop we go.
The Creston Community Easter party will be Sunday, April 13 at 2 P. M. At the Creston Community Building.

Spring continues in Creston with spring beauties, hyacinths, blood root, twin leaf, butter cups and winter cress greens big enough to pick. The spring peepers are providing music for those who take the time to listen.
A big crowd was on hand at city hall in Ellenboro for the meeting on the abandonment of 1100 miles of Hope Natural Gas Company [Rockefeller] gas gathering lines. These are what they call the “red lines”. The “news” was that Mother Hope now intends to transfer/sell all the lines to Rusty Hutson, Jr.’s Diversified Gas & Oil. To say that the natives were “restless” would have been a very mild understatement as answers were not really forthcoming. When asked why Diversified was not represented at the meeting there was no answer since it was obvious that the Alabama based firm would have very significant impact. Earlier the PSC had ruled that Mother Hope could start changing folks over to propane and the PSC had a man there but he never opened his mouth. It should be noted that he did talk at the Grantsville meeting. There were 3 Tee Vee stations at the gathering and the affair made national news with a report on Marcellus Drilling News. Ritchie County commissioners were instrumental in having the meeting there and seeing to having a good crowd. Earlier the Hope man, Mr. Jeff Nehr, said the lines would be given to “any taker” but now the sum of $18 million seems to be on the table. [Peasants mind your own business!]
The Creston Community Building meeting will be Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 P. M. At the Creston Community Building.
There was a meeting in Wirt County to set up a Christian school since the government school[s] are obviously failing since they do not have to compete or encourage students to learn and learn to think.
Some local folks were visiting up in Ohio Amish country where farmers had fine teams working up ground.
Denver based Antero Resources announced that the company is now producing 3.4 bcfe/day of natural gas in West Virginia and 50 more wells are to be drilled this year.
The legislature passed a bill “to make it easier” to have data centers & power plants in West Virginia. There is a proposal for such a situation in Wirt County — wells, power plant & data center. Hear, hear!
The DOGE team in Washington continues to find waste, fraud & abuse in the federal budget. Now the effort involves Social Security and fraud with at least one person over age 200 still drawing “benefits” — now get away as all is ‘above board’ ’cause I said so. Several years ago a local resident received a check for a daughter that was “special needs”. He was old and unable to work at the time. She went with some folks to visit up in Ohio and while there married a fellow. Thus her father no longer was entitled to the check for his daughter. Each month the check was mailed back to Social Security and each month a check would come. Finally the last check was sent back certified mail, return receipt requested. Then the checks stopped but then the father got letters demanding that he repay the prior checks [that he did not cash but returned]. Finally he received a letter from SS saying that he did not have to pay back those checks and he kept that letter. A few years later he received a terse letter demanding that he repay “all he owed” or else there would be a deduction from his check. “Pay or else”. A very ‘blunt’ letter was sent to the SS folks along with a copy of the prior letter stating that he did not have to repay anything. The man was lucky as he had a helpful postmaster and folks who could craft letters for him. It is obvious that fraud has infested the agency for a long time. Those who would prey on the vulnerable need to “earn” long vacations in “nice places”. Perhaps the Bureau of Prisons could take some lessons from the folks in El Salvador.
