Creston News Week of May 26th, 2025

Dean Miller laid down some fine first cutting hay.  There are now new fawns so one has to be careful.

The Creston Community yard sale/flea market will be Saturday May 31 at the Community Building.  Set up is at 8 A. M . And the kitchen will beopen.

Several folks were in for the Decoration Day holiday and there were lots of side by sides and four wheelers out and about everywhere.  Some local residents are spending the long weekend  dealing with coughs, chills, fever and other unpleasant ailments.

The Wirt road crew mowed the byways around Creston and most of the holes in the Little Kanawha River bridge were patched and the deer bones were removed.

Barbara Wright & Kathleen Cervone returned from attending a wedding in Alabama and a visit to Florida.  They had a great trip.  Nancy Wright returned with them for a visit here.

Local residents were decorating graves over the weekend.  It seemed that not many folks put flowers on their family graves.

Joanne Francis & daughter Robin were among those at the bingo for Nelson’s Retreat at Camp Barbe.

An old sign was recovered from an old barn on Little Creek for Samuel Cooper who died in 1908.

The IPAA (petroleum association) meet will be June 17 – 19 in Williamsburg.  Those who go will get to hear from Broadway Joe Manchin.

It was noted that the greatly hyped new W. Va. Well plugging scheme, as per Rusty Hutson, Jr. may not be all it is said to be — but hey — aren’t we all in it for the quick bucks?

The green weenies want us to all go to Chinese solar panels to save the planet, don’t you know.  Now it has been discovered that there are secret “kill switches” embedded in the products.  Presently there is a huge solar farm being constructed downriver from the old Kaiser Aluminum plant.  It had been said that after the solar panels gave out the land could be returned to farming.  Such is far from the truth.  Just drive over and take a look.

The ruling junta under the former senile president determined that those who did not go along with the government story on COVID were defined as “domestic violent extremists”.  More studies are coming out about all the damage caused by the so called vaccines and the damage to pregnant women, babies in the womb and young males who got serious heart problems.

While not Creston news it was noted that there were lots of folks at the park and pool in Grantsville.

TECfusion, a Tampa based firm, plans to have a big data center in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania with 3 GW (gigawatts) of power while in Indiana County Pennsylvania the operation there will be 4.5 GW.  It was announced that gas wells on the site will provide fuel for the new power plants.

Michael Mann was the pseudo scientist who came up with the “hockey stick” graph that Al Gore Jr. used to “prove global warming”.  Of course the 1930s were excluded from the data as was the Medieval warm period.  Mann sued Mark Steyn (and others) for pointing out the hoax and the suit went on for years but now Mann was found out and he has to pay for maligning those who would dare question him.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $60.20/bbl. With condensate fetching just $42.20/bbl. Or just over $1/gallon and Marcellus & Utica light was $49.20/bbl.  WTI (West Texas Intermediate) was $61.01 while Brent (North Sea) crude was $64.78/bbl. And natural gas [elsewhere]was $3.33/MMBTU.
