Creston News Week of November 18th

Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

Sgt. Thomas Fluharty, USA, Retired, is a patient in the hospital.

The Creston area received more rain and now there is more water in the river.  It will take quite some time to recharge the aquifers that were depleted.

Christine Carter, a PR lady for the state road advised a Creston resident that construction of a new Creston bridge was held up by the discovery of a new species of mussel living in the stream at the bridge location.  She indicated that the U. S. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife might give their OK for construction sometime in 2025 so that construction of a replacement span could occur in 2026.  In the meantime she noted that there would be annual inspections to be sure that the existing span “is safe”.  Recent drone pictures showed some serious problems.  One local resident remembers when the present bridge was built that it was very dry and folks drove vehicles down and around the pier that is in the middle of the river — apparently the mollusks were not injured back then.

The comely Kim Mowrey was calling on her mother over the weekend.

Several Creston residents [and their families that live in nearby communities] have been suffering with respiratory problems.  Other area residents were consulting with medical professionals.

A few of the government “lady bugs” actually Asiatic beetles are now showing up to get in homes & public buildings.  Hillary & Bill turned them loose to eat aphids on pecan trees.

The US Post Office is putting out big ads about how wonderful their operations were with, it was said, a $9.5 billion shortfall.  Recently a certified letter was sent to under the golden dome down at the Mouth of the Elk.  The green card was returned with a stamp by a state employee.  However, there was no record that the certified mail was delivered (it was not scanned).  Not long before that mail was returned as “unable to deliver” when there was a correct address.  One fellow mailed the “papers” for the animals that he sold and that mail has yet to show up anywhere.  Registered animals with out papers are like motor vehicles without titles in certain circumstances.

Gary Ferrell was attending to business in Creston.

Betty Bish fell & broke her knee.

One local resident picked some more hot peppers on Sunday showing how mild the weather has been so far this season in Creston.  The big COP 29 global warming conference was held this year in Baku, an old oilfield town on the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan.  All the big dignitaries, including Albert Gore, Jr. came to the conference in their private jets to “save the planet”.  Junior Gore became somewhat unglued after Ilham Aliyou, the president of Azerbaijan stated that fossil fuels were “a gift of God”.  One of the US spokes babes said she hoped President Trump wouldn’t pull out of the Paris climate scam again.  It was noted that a record was set again for carbon emissions world wide and there was “hope” that Trump’s plans to deep six the expensive hoaxes could be stopped. John Podesta was the US Climate czar.  W. Va.’s new congressman Riley Moore formerly worked as a lobbyist for Podesta & his brother in the lower Potomac swamps.

Some local folks went to the W. Va. DEP meeting Thursday night at the North Bend State Park.  The DEP has acquired “lots of $$” from the “Green New Deal” to plug gas wells.  Previously “abandoned” wells were being plugged but now the plan is to plug “marginal gas wells” to prevent methane leaks.  It was reported that presently there is a group of 18 wells that are to be plugged in Calhoun County & 15 prospective bidders showed up to do the job.  When asked if things would be different after January 21, 2025 the DEP spokesman had no answer.  He noted that there was $2 billion to spend & time was of the essence.

The DC swamp folks are concerned that the proposal by Elon & Vivek to cut government waste & abuse has caused much panic.  It was noted that once Elon got into the rocket and space business the cost of putting things up in the air was cut by 90%.  The same goes for the proposed new Trump cabinet with shrieks of rage over some who know how to tear new ones and don’t mind doing such.  Did anyone expect Casper Milquetoast, Goody Twoshoes & Good Body J. Sweetpants would be named.  It should be noted that W. Va.’s two senators went along with the deep state making it clear that both Big Jim & Shelly are not on the Trump train.  Such a shame when they could fight against cultural Marxism.

It was noted that in the process of removing dead wood from the federal government some might claim that they cannot be fired [ever].  If such be the case there are several vacant buildings in Welch that could easily be fixed as offices.  Each one of the little darlings could have a 6 x 8 office with a light, a table & a chair.  There would be no need for phones & internet since these folks  would not be doing anything except soaking up taxpayer funds.  When the late Bill Ritchie took over highways he made similar arrangements for some of his “star” employees.  This solution would be a boon for the economy in McDowell County and would eliminate the need for expensive office spaces in the high rent districts.

The folks up at the little university in Morgantown sent out letters wanting to know how many acres of timber land folks had in West Virginia and other states.  One can wonder what their plan really is as they had been involved in “carbon capture scams” earlier.  There is a saying about being careful of Greeks who bring gifts.  Perfesser Gee Haw who runs that operation does not give any reason why he could be trusted on anything.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil slipped to $66.02/bbl. With condensate fetching just $48.02/bbl. While Marcellus & Utica light brought $55.02/bbl.  Enron (EOG) and Encino continue to produce crude from the oil window of the Utica in Ohio.  Local natural gas fetched just over 81 cents on the DTI (Dominion) system.
