Dobbins Commits Battery by the State Police Detachment

In a criminal complaint filed in Calhoun Magistrate Court by Trooper J.D. Richards of the WV State Police, he stated that on Sunday, May 21st 2023 at approximately 9 p.m., while processing another prisoner in the State Police Detachment in Grantsville, an individual came in the door saying that there was an active altercation down the street. When Trooper Richards investigated he witnessed two women actively arguing with each other and separated them.

He spoke to 36 year old Jessica Dobbins, who said that there was some sort of “incident or drama” involving juveniles before the argument began. He also spoke with Krista Goodrich, the victim about what had occurred. Ms. Goodrich stated that there was a situation involving children and that Dobbins had come down from her residence onto Main Street and approached her, then punched her in the face. Goodrich then defended herself. A witness confirmed Goodrich’s statement saying that Dobbins did indeed throw the first punch.

The victim’s face was noticeably swollen from one side to the other and she was in a very emotional state from her children witnessing the battery.

Dobbins was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful battery. She was then transported down the street for processing and taken to Central Regional Jail where she has since been released.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
