In a Criminal Complaint filed by Cpl. N.S Stepp of the West Virginia State Police, Cpl. Stepp stated that on Monday, December 25, 2023, at approximately 10:39 p.m. he was dispatched by the Calhoun County 911 Center (Control) to a disturbance located at 369 Sugar Camp Road in Big Bend, Calhoun County, West Virginia. Control advised Cpl. Stepp that Mark Donegan had brandished a handgun during the course of the argument and made threats to kill his family.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. Cpl. Stepp arrived on scene and detained Mr. Donegan, the accused. While interacting with Donegan, the officer located a revolver in his possession and it was secured.
After speaking with the other parties involved in this incident, it was learned that the accused had been heavily drinking and had become enraged and began making threats to shoot his family. At some point in time, while he was sitting at the bar in the residence, the accused pulled a revolver from the holster he had secured to his leg and pointed it at his oldest step-son and threatened to shoot him. At that time, the wife of the accused, Terrie Nestor-Donegan, stepped in front of her son in order to protect him. The accused then returned the handgun back into his holster that was secured to his side.
Trooper Stepp placed the accused under arrest for three counts of domestic assault and three counts of brandishing. He was then transported to the WVSP Detachment for processing and then taken to the WV Central Regional Jail where he is currently being held on a $6,000 bond.
