Early Morning Structure Fire on Broomstick Road

Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 2:36 a.m. to an early morning structure fire on Broomstick Road, off North Calhoun Highway.

Joe and Robin Hardbarger woke shortly before 2:30 a.m. to discover their electric out and the sound of popping. When Robin looked out her window she discovered an outbuilding, about 20-30 feet from their home, was in flames. Joe attempted to put it out but soon realized that his attempts would have little effect on the fire and 911 was called.

The outbuilding housed the couple’s washer, dryer and freezer as well as other belongings and was unfortunately un-insured.

Four of Grantsville firefighters quickly had the fire under control and within a little over an hour the fire was out and the Department was leaving scene.
