Edward “Eddie” G. Cain Obituary

Edward “Eddie” G. Cain, 80, of Bull River Road, Grantsville, WV, passed away on May 26, 2024.

Eddie was born in Calhoun County, on September 18, 1934, the son of the late Gee and Amelia Guitierrez Cain.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his true love and beautiful wife of 45 years, Brenda Cain; reunited hand in hand they can now remain.

Eddie and Brenda, together, proudly raised and left behind two sons, Mark (Ronda) Cain and Eric (Jessica) Cain; twelve grandchildren, April Cain, Josh Cain, Heaven Garrett, Tangie Wilcox, Bailey Schwartz, Riley Cain, Nicholas Cain, Abby Cain, Chandler Newell, Kiley Newell, Emily Metheney, and Chloe James; and thirteen great-grandchildren.  Eddie also leaves behind one brother Albert Cain of Heath, Ohio, and a vast amount of beloved friends including a special friend, Lisa Cooper, who provided him with laughter, companionship, and support.

With his immense work ethic and great drive to support his family, Eddie worked hard every day of his life.  In his early years, Eddie owned and operated the Texaco Service Station in Grantsville.  Later on, with his sons by his side, he built up the company “Little Kanawha Excavating”.  Eddie took great pride in his company and from that carries on, as both Mark and Eric credit their father for so much of what they know today.

Both of these businesses lead Eddie to be well known and respected by many local and surrounding areas.  With his smile and handshake, Eddie took time to make everyone he met feel special.

Throughout Eddie’s 80-year life, outside of work, he enjoyed taking his family camping, visiting Kings Island, going on beach trips, attending trucking shows, going to car shows with his buddies, browsing flea markets, dining at restaurants, upkeeping his lawn, seeing movies at the theater, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, recycling, visiting with friends, meeting new people wherever he went, and being part of the front table at “Moms Place Too” restaurant.

We ask that you remember Eddie with smiles and laughter, as that is how he remembered you.

Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, will assist the Cain family with Eddie’s wishes.  A private memorial gathering to honor Eddie’s life will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to Autumn Lake at Crystal Springs Health Care and Mountain Hospice, for the exceptional care and support provided.

In lieu of flowers, please go out and support local businesses in some way, as Eddie felt that was important to do in his hometown and community that he loved.
