The Calhoun County Middle/High School All-Sports banquet was held this year on May 30th, 2022. The evening started with recognition of our middle school athletes, then the boosters and their presidents, Shelly Stevens and Teresa Basnett, provide a meal for our athletes. After this, the high school banquet began with a special ceremony that retired the number 10 jersey of Josie Montgomery for being the first female basketball player to be named First Team All-State two times. Her picture will be hanged in the Wall of Fame at Calhoun County Middle/High School, and a banner in honor of her will be hanged in the in the Calhoun County Middle/High School gym.
Next, after an introduction, Mr. Adam O’Harrow presented the Bob Bayless and Veryl Hayes award for the most committed athlete to the weight lifting program was presented to Ian Persinger, a Junior at Calhoun County Middle/High School. After this, participants and lettermen for each sport were called to the stage by their coaches. Once this was completed, Team MVPs were presented to a member of each team by their coaches.
Next, the Ethyn Miller Memorial Scholarship was presented by Reverend Steven Carter. The recipients of this award were Drue Goad and Savannah Cunningham. Once this was finished, the Lady Red Devil and Wayne Underwood Award Winners were announced. The winner of the Lady Red Devil for 2022 is Josie Montgomery. The winner of the Wayne Underwood Memorial Award is Grant Sterns. The administration at Calhoun County Middle/High School would like to congratulate all members of our school teams and special award recipients. We would also like to thank Mr. Kevin Yeager for putting together this year’s slide shows for both the middle and high school banquet, and especially the CMHS Athletic Boosters for putting the banquet together this year.
