Energy Express program recruiting AmeriCorps members

The award-winning, free Energy Express summer program is currently seeking individuals over the age of 18 to serve as program coordinators and mentors for eight weeks from June 3rd through July 25th, 2025.

Since 1994, youth volunteers, AmeriCorps members, community volunteers have worked with site supervisors to provide meaningful and engaging experiences for West Virginian children entering first through sixth grade. Energy Express provides learning opportunities and nutrition for during the summer months, when children are most at risk for going hungry and falling behind on their reading and social skills.

Energy Express AmeriCorps members benefit from a knowledgeable network of support while they gain valuable work experience in a program that rewards individuality, creativity, and a sense of fun. Members also receive a living
allowance totaling $4050, and upon successful completion, an Eli Segal education award worth $1,565.08 which can be applied to eligible college tuition charges and student loans. Service with Energy Express also conveys 300 service hours toward the West Virginia AmeriCorps Tuition Waiver (see WV
§18B-10-7d).
