The Calhoun County Republican Executive Committee held the first Lincoln Day Dinner in over 40 years in Calhoun County. The Committee comprised of four officers and several members at large worked diligently to organize the event with over 90 registered guests including Keynote Speaker, Secretary of State and 2024 Gubernatorial Candidate, Mac Warner.

The event was held at the Calhoun County Park Barn, catered by the Spaur family with Calhoun Youth Volunteers as servers for the evening meal of Flank Steak, Grilled Caesar Salad, Brussel Sprouts, Twice Baked Potatoes, Hillbilly Creme Brûlée with specialty tea and coffee by Ari White, all of which received rave reviews by attendees. Multiple Counties were represented at the event with several notable officials present.

Roger Propst, Vice-Chair and MC for the event gave a beautiful recitation of the Gettysburg Address and explanation of how the Lincoln Day Dinner came to be before Mac Warner spoke. Warner’s rousing speech of encouragement brought several cheers from the crowd as he announced his plans for the State of West Virginia, should he be elected as Governor for the 2024 Election year. The two and a half hour event was filled with opportunities for those of a conservative mindset to meet likeminded others and get to know Republican representatives and what they stand for. The Republican Party has had a surge of interest from local residents and has grown into an active organization with a new and loud voice in Calhoun County. The Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Calhoun County Courthouse at 6:30 p.m. and encourages attendance by those desiring to participate in Republican endeavors and make a positive change to improve the lives of the Citizens of Calhoun County.
