John Dean Forbush, born April 25, 1998, gave his life in the line of duty on May 1, 2022. As sweet as that image is of John and his daughter Kryslynn, it was the same consensus of everyone I heard speak of him at the wake for which I attended with the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department. Multiple people told stories of the times he had volunteered not only for the Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department but volunteered his time to help people in the community. He had a true servants heart.
There was a constant changing of the guard of officers who volunteered to stand with John throughout his service as family, friends, and those who had neve r met him filed through to pay their respects to the young firefighter.
